Kwara NUT gives out N22m loans to members

In order to alleviate poverty among members, the Kwara State Chapter of Nigeria Union of Tailors (NUT) has given out the sum of N22m as loan to beneficiaries. The interest-free loan was disbursed through the union's Multipurpose Cooperative Union (MCU).

This was disclosed by the President of the MCU, Alhaji Toyin Busari during the first year anniversary of Kwara Tailors MCU, held at the Stadium, Ilorin on Saturday.

He said:" It is important to note that within the short period of existence, we have given out about N8 million loan and about 1,115 people have benefited our monthly emergency loan of N14million interests free.

"The union presently has 26 societies and about 1,500 members. I want to note that the union is not for tailors alone as businessmen and artisans are members. In his remarks, President, state Chapter of the union, Alhaji Isiaka Abdul-Azeez popularly known as 'Ojoo', appealed for financial support of the state government to the union.

In his address, the Special Adviser (SA) to the state Governor on Artisans Related Matters, Prince Muhammad Kazeem Olanipekun lauded the efforts of the union at ensuring welfare of members through loans disbursement.

He assured them of state government support just as he urged them to cooperate with the Governor Abdulfattah Ahmed led administration towards the development of the state.
