NPFL Match Day 9: Kwara United striker targets maximum points against Nasarawa United

Kwara United FC striker Stephen Alfred on Wednesday said he hopes to increase his goal account and help his team to gain maximum points against Nasarawa United on Sunday.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Harmony Boys will test their might against the Solid Miners in Lafia in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) Match Day 9.

The John Obuh-tutored team returned to their winning ways with a 2-1 win against Kastina United in the NPFL Match Day 8 fixtures will seek to consolidate on the win.

Kwara United had defeated Kastina United FC 2-1 at their Kwara Township Stadium, courtesy goals from Godwin Emeka and Alfred while martins Sule scored for the Kastina side.

On the other side, Nasarawa United will aim to bounce back after their 0-1 loss to Niger Tornadoes courtesy of an early strike from Segun Alebiosu.

Alfred, the Harmony Boys highest goal scorer with three goals has vowed on behalf of his teammates on to target maximum points against the Solid Miners when they square up on Sunday.

"We are boosted by our last victory at home against Kastina United, and we are also ready to get maximum points in Lafia. We want to redeem ourselves by winning our away tie.

"We understand the importance of the match and more so, it is a northern derby, hence, the need to give our best to the game.

"Nasarawa are no doubt a good team, but they are beatable and we shall do all our best to make our fans happy," he said.

NAN reports that both team share the same points with the same number of wins, draw and losses, but Nasarawa has more goals difference with eight, while kwara United has four goals.

Both team played eight, won three, drew nil, and lost five with nine points. Nasarawa United occupies 15th position in the NPFL log, while Kwara United are rooted in the drop zone in 18th position. (NAN)
