He explained that the outcome of the election has opened a new vista in the politics of the state such that people can collectively determine who administers their affairs without undue Prejudice and mediocre sentiments

Reacting to the outcome of the local government election in a statement issued in Ilorin yesterday, Omotosho said the electorate remains the cornerstone of political process and should be allowed to willfully choose their representatives at all levels of government

The Labour Party National Chairman maintained that the election basically showed that the electorate possess the singular powerful tool to liberate themselves when the time comes, urging them to value their voters cards and continue to be law abiding in their conduct .

On the reported protest over the outcome of the council polls, Omotosho admonished the aggrieved party in the election to channel their grievances through lawful means so as not to create unnecessary unrest in the state.

The Labour Party boss, however, applauded the people of Kwara State for coming out en mass and conducting themselves peacefully while the election lasted and for demanding accountability by staying back to defend their votes.

He further assured the people of Kwara that better days are in the offing if this level of participation, tenacity of purpose and determined mindset is sustained and multiplied across board in Kwara state.

"This local government election is a pointer that our people are becoming socially aware and more politically conscious to provide the much needed changes in our polity.

"Henceforth, people should neither be compelled nor conditioned to determine who administers or governs them at whatever level. They have that responsibility themselves.

"They should exercise their franchise without undue influence, prejudice and mediocre sentiments from anyone no matter how highly placed in the society. Let us remember the immortal words of our Sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, that when the people are ready, a leader will come", Omotosho said.
