F/Eagles to Resume Training Camp in Ilorin, Aug. 22

Date: 2012-08-16

Nigeria U-20 team, the Flying Eagles, will resume training camp in Ilorin ahead of a 2013 AYC qualifier against South Africa on Wednesday, August 22.

The team broke camp on Monday for the Muslim Sallah Holidays.

Team secretary Sirajo Hassan said both players and officials are expected at the Bovina View Hotel in Ilorin, where the team stayed for a second round, second leg qualifier against Tanzania on Sunday.

The coach John Obuh-led Flying Eagles eliminated their Tanzanian counterparts 4-1 on aggregate in the second round.

They won the first clash in Dar es Salaam 2-1 before they wrapped their passage to the next round of the qualifying tournament with a 2-0 win at the Kwara State Stadium on Sunday.

They are billed to take on the Amajita of South Africa, who sent packing Congo, on September 22 in Johannesburg in a third round, first leg match.

The return leg is also planned for Ilorin a fortnight later with the overall winners booking a place in the eight-nation African Youth Championship in Algeria in March.

Nigeria are the African defending champions.
