FG urged to reduce its over- reliance on crude oil

The Federal Government has been asked to look into other yielding and productive avenues and exploit them for the benefit of the country to reduce its over-reliance on crude oil.

The Kwara State Solicitor General and Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Justice, Mrs. Adenike Akinpelu, made the call today while speaking with our reporter.

Akinpelu, bemoaned over dependence on oil by the government, pointing out that the time has come for the government to go back to the drawing board and utilize the natural resources endowed the country that are capable of serving as foreign exchange reserve.

She figured areas like Tourism, Culture, Agriculture, and other natural resources in the country as areas that should be exploited.

Speaking onthe current security challenge in the country, Mrs. Akinpelu, said the way out of the problem is for parents to train their children, impacting right values in their lives.

She cautioned the youths to avoid involving violence that could cause disruption of lives and property, adding that the better avenue to make agitation was not through violence.

She appealed to the government and stakeholders in the security to rise up to the task to make Nigeria a saver place for all.

Mrs. Akinpelu, also stressed the need for well-to-do Nigerians to assist victims of natural disasters by providing relief materials and called on the Federal Government to find lasting solutions to the flood disaster in some parts of the country.

The Solicitor General, urged people to obey environmental laws and imbibe serene environment by avoiding anything that could cause outbreak of diseases.

She stated that the ongoing decongestion of prison in Kwara State by the state government would help to dispose justice accordingly, adding that government is collaborating relevant stakeholders to always dispose speedy dispensation of justice.
