KWARA: Ram sellers appeal to govt of workers' salaries payment

Date: 2017-08-30

Low patronage of sacrificial animals for the forthcoming Sallah celebrations has continued to hit Ilorin, the Kwara State capital ROYAL NEWS has gathered.

Our correspondent who went round the Ilorin Metropolis on Tuesday gathered that Ram Sellers are dissatisfied with the situation thereby attributing the poor sales to non-payment of salaries of workers.

Speaking with ROYAL NEWS exclusively, the Chairman, Ram Sellers Association, Maraba chapter, Mallam Abiodun Alapata, said: "The low patronage was as a result of economic recession and unpaid salaries"".

According to him, "It is few days to Sallah and there is no improvement in sales and not as if there is high increase in the price of the animals, the price range from N 30, 000 and above."

Also speaking, another official of the association, Mr. Akeem Ibrahim, said: "I have been at Kara since 7am yet nothing to show. Inadequate payment of salaries is the major cause of the ugly situation."

He however pleaded with the government to pay workers salary as that will boost their business.
