Boundary Commission boss expresses hope of peaceful resolution of Kwara crisis

The Director General of the National Boundary Commission, Dr. Muhammed Ahmad, has expressed the believe that the conflict over boundary issues between Share and Tsaragi in Kwara State will be resolved soon as the two communities are ready for peace.

Speaking with newsmen after his visit to the two communities, Ahmad said the communities are desirous of peace and are ready to imbibe the elements of peace that would sort out the problem once and for all.

The Director General stated that the two sides had pledged to ensure peaceful coexistence and are ready to make sacrifices for peace to reign.

Earlier, in his speech during an interface session with the two communities in their individual locations, he reminded them that it is God's will for them to be neighbors.

Ahmad urged them to live together and integrate as one and the same people designed by destiny who have come a long way and share so much in common over time.

Also speaking, the Secretary of the Kwara State boundary committee, Tunde Thompson Amos, recounted efforts of successive governments to end the over four decades dispute between the two communities.

The secretary concluded that all the steps taken by the state government is a pointer to the fact that the state government is not relenting in finding a lasting solution to the dispute.

In their documented submission to the team during the visit, which was delivered by Alhaji Attahiru Haruna, Tsaragi community expressed the believe that the sincere intervention of the Commission will bring to an end the periodic violent crisis that is almost becoming a national security issue.

In his response to members of the Commission during the interface session in his palace, the Estu Tsaragi, Alhaji Aliyu Abdullahi, expressed optimism that the intervention of the Commission in the age long crisis will bring peace to the two Communities.

Abdullahi stated that the two communities had no cause to quarrel at this point in time seeing that their son is the governor of the state.

Speaking in the same vein in the palace of the Olupako of Share, Alhaji Abubakar Dosumu, the President of Share Descendants Union, Prof. Sulaiman Jamiu, expressed the delight of the people of Share over the intervention of the Commission.

Jamiu assured the Commission of the unalloyed support of his people in resolving the issue once and for all.

Also speaking, the Asiwaju of Share, Alhaji Muhammad Lawal, said the two communities had lived peacefully for a long time.

Lawal lamented that the present crisis has created much bad blood and urged the Commission to do its job without any form of biases to any community.
