Steve Nwosu: Ahmed Tasks NPAN Over Insurance Scheme For Journalists

Date: 2012-07-28

Following Tuesday's armed robbery attack on the editor of Daily Sun, Mr. Steve Nwosu, the Kwara State governor, Alhaji AbdulFatah Ahmed, has urged owners of media houses, under the aegis of Newspaper Proprietors Association of Nigeria (NPAN),  in the country to take the issue of comprehensive insurance scheme for working journalists more seriously.

Ahmed described the robbery attack on Nwosu at Amuwo, Lagos State, as an unfortunate development and an indication of the disturbing level of crime and criminality in Nigeria.

The governor, in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Alhaji AbdulWahab Oba, expressed delight that the foremost journalist did not die in the hands of the evil men.

Ahmed said the incident was another indication that the Nigerian security agencies deserved more funding and training to tackle the emerging security challenges.
