Kwara discovers 971 illegal teachers

Date: 2016-12-03

The Kwara State Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Alhaji Musa Yeketi, on Friday disclosed that the state government had discovered 971 illegally employed teachers in the state.

He also said the employment of some of the 1,420 teachers employed as against the 449 approved between 2014 and 2015 did not follow due process.

He spoke during a post-state executive meeting media briefing in Ilorin, the capital.

Yeketi stated that two retired principal officers and three other serving officers in the Teaching Service Commission implicated in the scam would be disciplined according to the civil service rule.

He, however, added that the illegally recruited teachers could be considered for regularisation going by the critical need for more manpower in this regard in the future.
