EFCC not probing Kwara officials - Kwara Govt
Speaking at a press conference in Ilorin on the state government's recent N10bn loan, the Senior Special Assistant to the Kwara State Governor on Media and Communications, Dr. Muyideen Akorede, said the state was not afraid of the EFCC. This, he explained, was because the state government had been prudent, accountable and open.
He said insinuations that EFCC was probing the state government was unfounded as the anti-graft agency had not visited the state in the past few weeks as was being speculated.
Akorede said, "I have not heard anything about the EFCC coming to the state. The reason for this briefing is because of the need for transparency.
"People were making insinuations in certain quarters that we needed to set things straight. Because of the insinuations, and people asking questions, the governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, said we should set the records straight. Let us tell people what we did with the N17bn and why we had to go for the N10bn.
"It has nothing to do with the EFCC or any other organisation probing the state government. This is an open administration. Everything we do is transparent and documented."
