Constructive criticism will deepen democracy - Kwara Speaker

Date: 2016-03-22

Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Dr. Ali Ahmad, has said that democracy in Nigeria can be strengthened when opposition parties are constructive in their criticisms.

In a press statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Abdul-Rahman Sanni, Dr. Ahmad made the observation in Abuja while taking part in a Personality Interview Programme on the Nigerian Television Authority.

The Speaker said the concept of opposition politics in Nigeria is ridiculous when juxtaposed with advanced democracies around the world.

He enjoined Nigerians to be patient with the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led government under President Muhammadu Buhari, stressing that the president had demonstrated greater commitment, honesty and passion in addressing the myriad of challenges bedeviling the nation.
