Kwara Govt. Set To Subsidise Own Quarters To Workers
Employment into the Local Government Councils, LGC, and the State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB, in Kwara State has been suspended while government restated its commitment to ensure welfares of the existing workers.
It also added that civil servants who are presently occupying government quarters in the state are to benefit from government's housing scheme aimed at making all workers 'house owners'.
Commissioner for Information and Communications in the state, Prince Tunji Moroufoye, made this known in Ilorin , yesterday, while briefing journalists on issues discussed at the State Executive Council meeting, he said: "We are ready to sell all the government's quarters to the occupiers."
This, Prince Morounfoye said: "This would go a long way in assisting the would-be beneficiaries in their desires to have house of the own stressing that the price would be highly subsidised for comfort and solvency's sake.
"Haven served the state meritoriously, I think workers in this state deserves to be supported in having houses of their. Some workers both indigenes and non-indigenes, have been occupying government's quarters for more than 25years, Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed is ready to let them benefit the shared prosperity policy."
He however noted that haven registered over 60, 000 youths through the Kwara Bridge Empowerment Scheme, KWABES, the State Government would ensure that constant employment and empowerment programme is carried out in the state.
On health, the Commissioners stressed that the payments on entry registration in the government's hospital across the state which cost N 200 has been reduced to N 20, noting that this justifies Governor Abdufatah Ahmed-led administration's efforts to enable access to health care services by all and sundry.
