Saraki urges peace, stability at Lent

Date: 2016-02-11

Senate President Bukola Saraki has urged the Christian community in the country to pray for peace and stability of the nation as the Lenten season begins.

Saraki, who made the call yesterday in a statement signed by his Media Adviser, Yusuph Olaniyonu, specifically enjoined the Christians to seek the face of God, for a way out of the present socio-economic and security challenges confronting the nation.

He thanked the Nigerian people for their unflinching support for the Federal Government in the fight against insurgency, saying their invaluable contributions have in no small way contributed to the successes recorded so far in the fight against the Boko Haram scourge.

Said he, "I heartily congratulate all Christians as they commence the Lent, which is a season dedicated to fasting and prayers by Christian faithful.

"Prayers, no doubt, are very key to achieving our socio-economic objectives as they bring the hand of God to intervene in areas human strength and wisdom cannot prevail.
