KWSG to partner traffic management committee
The members of the Kwara State committee on annual rating on traffic management administration in the state have been charged to intensify more efforts to ensure that road accidents especially along Ilorin-Jebba axis is reduced to a barest minimum in the state. The Secretary to the Kwara State Government, Alhaji Sola Isiaka Gold gave the charge when the members of the state committee on annual rating of state for entrancing safety and traffic administration paid him a courtesy visit in his office.
Alhaji Gold who observed that the Federal roads have been in a terrible condition especially Ilorin - Jebba Road which he said still remained a big problem to motorists as thousands of people still die annually as a result of the bad condition of the roads.
Alhaji Gold who explained that the state government was willing and ready to join forces with the road traffic management committee in the state to ensure that road accidents and carnage on our high way were reduced to the barest minimum.
The SSG also thanked and commended the committee for scoring the state very high on road management issues and promised that the state government would continue to maintain and even improve the standard of road traffic administration in the state while also promising that the state government would make available representatives of the state government in to the traffic management committee.
Responding, the leader of the committee, who is also an Associate Professor, Mr. Lanre Tajudeen Ajibade, promised that the committee would continue to work in enforcing the traffic regulations especially within our major and most busy parts of our roads in the state.
He promised that the committee would continue to contribute to the road safety activities without any bias.
The leader said the success of the committee was based on the support and the assistance given to them by the state government adding that the road traffic committee was made up of road'> safety officers and some members of the professional bodies such as Nigeria Medical Association, Nigeria Society of Engineers, Nigeria Union of Journalists, members of the Kwara State Traffic Management Agency, KWARTMA and Nigeria Union of Transport Workers (NURTW) among others.
Present at the occasion were, the Permanent Secretary, General Services, Alhaji Rafiu Ayinla, Permanent Secretary, Political, Cabinet and Special Services, Elder David .A. Adesina, and some directors of the Governor's Office.
