KWHA extols virtues of Emir as he marks 20 years
As the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu Gambari marked 20 years on the throne, the Kwara State House of Assembly has described him as exemplary leader whose reign had been characterized by peaceful co-existence, rapid growth and development. Members of the House described the Emir as a pillar of bundle of good things.
Members' remarks was sequel to a motion without notice raised at Wednesday's plenary by a member representing Ilorin Central Constituency, Hajia Segilola Abdulkadir. The Speaker, Dr Ali Ahmad who described the emir as a man of no religion bigot, said he was known for peace throughout his reign.
Dr Ahmad said the emir was not a politician but plays politics to achieve peace and stability of the state. While further congratulating the emir, the Speaker described him "as fight elephant king and kind-hearted man".
He directed the Clerk of the House, Mr Simon Okedare to convene the House's felicitation message to the emir. The Speaker said Wednesday’s plenary was dedicated to the Emir of Ilorin in view of his passion for peaceful co- existence and development of the state.
Abdulkadir had said the fatherly role of the Emir of Ilorin in ensuring the stability of the state cannot be over-emphasized. She commended the emir for maintaining the values and culture of Ilorin Emirate to avoid being bastardized by western culture.
The Leader of the House, Hon Hassan Oyeleke who described the emir as a peace maker, said his life was full of good virtues. He said the life of the emir was worthy of celebration because he has been a pride to the state.
Some of the members who contributed to the motion, described the emir as an achiever and jurist per excellence. The lawmakers further described him as peace-maker and a man of many virtues who had stood as a pillar to the state government.
They further described the emir as a listening leader who does not discriminate on the basis of religious differences and prayed for long life and sound health for the monarch.
