Kwara To Sanction Erring Councils

Date: 2012-05-31

Governor AbdulFatah Ahmed of Kwara has vowed to sanction any local government chairman performing below expectation.

Ahmed said this while inaugurating the second phase of Moro Local Government Headquarters Secretariat Complex as part of activities to mark the one year in office of the council administration.

Ahmed, who was represented by his deputy, Peter Kisira, urged all councils to ensure the maintenance of security for the new secretariat complex. "The best performing council will be rewarded while those on the contrary will receive sanction," he said.

He said the administration would continue to provide infrastructure for the wellbeing of the residents.
The governor also commended the efforts of Moro Local Government Council for the success recorded on the project.

In his remarks, Alhaji Issa Adamu, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, said the construction of the new secretariat complex was achieved with funds from the excess crude account.

Adamu stressed that the secretariat was part of the efforts of Moro Local Government to provide additional office accommodation for its workforce.
