Two persons, Sijibomi Adeniyi and Oluwatosin David, both of Sapati Area, Ilorin, have been arraigned before an Ilorin Chief Magistrate over alleged poisoning of drink.

The accused were brought before the court on a two-count charge of criminal conspiracy and adulteration of drink, contrary to Sections 97 and 184 of Penal Code Law.

The accused were indicted following a complaint on August 17 at the Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Ilorin, by one Abidemi Adewale of Sapati Phase 2, Isale Olokola, Sapati Area, Ilorin, that the accused conspired in order to offer her poisoned Lacasera drink through her driver, Joseph Gbenga.

Trouble began for the accused when the driver allegedly revealed the information to her boss that the accused were planning to poison her with Lacasera drink.

The complainant alleged further that the accused also threatened her driver to deal with him if he fails to give her the poisoned drink.

Police First Information Report (FIR) stated that on August 17 the poisoned Lacasera drink was prepared and adulterated by the accused and handed over to the complainant's driver to give same to his boss.

The FIR added further that investigation led to the recovery of the poisoned Lacasera drink.

The prosecutor, Sergeant Nasir Yusuf objected the bail of the accused and urged the court to remand them in prison custody pending the outcome of investigation.

The judge declined the submission of the prosecutor and released the accused on bail each in the sum of N40,000 and two sureties in like sum. The case was adjourned till September 8 for further mention.
