Kwara APC Supports Bailout Loan for Councils

Date: 2015-08-25

The All Progressives Congress (APC), Kwara State chapter has declared its support for the N5bn bailout loan the Kwara State government intends to secure from the federal government, saying it will serve the best interest of the state.

In a statement issued in Ilorin yesterday by its Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Sulyman Buhari, the party dismissed the criticism of the bailout loan by the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The party said, "As explained by the government, the bailout loan is essential for the payment of accumulated arrears of salaries and allowances to primary school teachers and local government employees, and payment for arrears of pensions and gratuities to retired local government workers.

"The breakdown of June allocation to the 16 local government councils as contained in the press statement of the PDP is actually a breakdown without any iota of truth. We wonder why PDP spokesman could be so confident in ignorance.

The good news is that the Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed-led administration is a people-focused and transparent government. All government expenditures and finances are available to the public for scrutiny."
