Man, 20, Held Over Rape

A 20-year-old motorcyclist, Bala Dogonyaro of Adogun village in Kwara State has been remanded in prison by an Ilorin Magistrate's Court for allegedly raping a 22-year-old lady.

It was gathered that the case which was transferred from the divisional police station in Banni to the Criminal Investigation and Intelligence, Ilorin, was reported by the victim.

The victim reported that on August 2, while she was returning from the Adogun market, the accused carried her on his motorcycle and agreed to collect the sum of N300.00, but that he later stopped by the bush.

"When we got close to a bush, he removed a knife and threatened to kill me if I refuse to have sex with him. When I refused, he forced me," she said.

The prosecution said investigation conducted at the department revealed that Bala Dongoyaro threatened and raped his passenger.

Magistrate M.A Ndakene then ordered his remand at Federal Prison Yard, Oke-Kura.
