Landlords, urged to conduct energy audit for their buildings
Landlords, tenants and cooperate organizations have been urged to conduct energy audit for their buildings they occupied
The Dean faculty of engineering and technology University of Ilorin, professor john Olorunmaiye stated this during the one hundred and sixth inaugural lectures titled "ENERGY CONVERSION AND MAN"
Professor Olorunmaiye stated that mechanical energy, electrical energy, electro-magnetic energy, chemical energy, nuclear energy and thermal energy are forms of energy.
He said mechanical and electrical form of energy are considered high grade energy because they can be converted to thermal energy efficiently and easily. Professor Olorunmaiye said between 1,850 and 1,870 are the peak of the industrial revolution energy consumption per day which was about two hundred and nine thousand kilo joules {k.j} in western Europe and the united state of America.
He stated that nowadays in developing countries the rate of energy consumption is between nine hundred thousand and eleven hundred thousand kilo joules {k.j} per day.
Professor Olorunmaiye said man as a power source is weak and insufficient un-like conventional engine which can give constant outputs and the carbohydrates, fats and protein in food consumed by man is oxidized in the body to release chemical for daily living.
He stated that a country can attain economic development with enormous subsidy of human enterprise by allowing greater percentage of the population to produce goods and services in the other sector of the economy.
The Dean of the Faculty of Engineering emphasized that most Nigerians are using generators to meet their residential electricity need and in the process some have died as a result of generator explosion.
Professor Olorunmaiye concluded by making the following recommendations that He recommended the plan to build nuclear power plant to generate electricity be canceled stating that increased effort should be made to prevent pipelines vandalization
