100. 000 enroll for community health insurance scheme in Kwara - PS
A total of 100, 000 persons in Kwara have so far registered for the State Government's Community Health Insurance Scheme.
The Permanent Secretary in the state Ministry of Health, Alhaji Rafiu Ayinla, made this known in a statement issued in Ilorin on Sunday.
He said the state government was collaborating with Pharm Access Foundation and Hygeia Community Health Insurance Scheme to achieve a target of one million enrollees by the end of 2019.Towards this end, Alhaji Ayinla said the state government was organising a one-day conference on the State Health Insurance Research and Advocacy.
He said the conference would highlight the success story of the Community Health Insurance Scheme in Kwara State.
According to Ayinla, the conference will also serve as a model for other states desirous of attaining Universal Health Scheme through state support health insurance scheme.
The permanent Secretary said participants would be drawn from the World Bank, Department for International Development (DFID), National Health Insurance Scheme and the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
"Other participants expected at the conference include the representatives of the Dutch Health Insurance fund, Permanent Secretaries, State Ministries of Health and other stakeholders," he said.
Ayinla said the one-day conference would be declared opened by the State Governor, Dr Abdulfatah Ahmed, on July 21st at Kwara Hotels in Ilorin. (NAN)
