Stakeholders move to reconcile Saraki, Tinubu
SOME prominent indigenes Kwara State have begun moves to reconcile the President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, and national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, over the crisis that followed the former's recent election.
Saraki was believed not to be the party's candidate for the position and his emergence was said to have jolted Tinubu particularly.
According to sources, former President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Mustapha Akanbi, may head the reconciliation body, just as the former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Alfa Belgore, may also play a prominent role.
However, another source told The Guardian in Ilorin that Akanbi and Belgore might not want to be linked with political issues, though they may "agree to reconcile them without discussing the political aspect of it."
Nevertheless, Saraki's aide, Suleiman Yusuf, who denied the duo's possible involvement in any such move, added: "We are aware that reconciliatory moves are ongoing." He described Tinubu and Saraki as "brothers" who are not fighting each other "but may be having a slight political misunderstanding, which will soon be over."
He urged the APC national leaders to mediate in the development towards enhancing party unity and boosting its chances of delivering the much-needed dividends of democracy to Nigerians.
