Kwara govt restates commitment to judicial workers' welfare
Kwara State government has restated its commitment to the welfare of judicial officers and other supporting personnel in the justice administration system.
The state solicitor-general and permanent secretary, Ministry of Justice, Mrs Funsho Lawal said this in Ilorin, the state capital, at the commencement of the 2014/2015 legal year of the Kwara State Sharia Court of Appeal.
Mrs Lawal enjoined judicial officers to reciprocate government's gesture by continually being alive to their responsibilities through fairness, equity and justice.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Grand Khadi of Kwara State, Justice Salihu Mohammed said 50 contested appeals and motions were decided during the year under review while few others were carried forward.
The Grand Khadi said the court during the period actively participated in the annual Sharia Judges Conference held at the Centre for Islamic Legal Studies, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
Other speakers at the ceremony were the chairman of the Ilorin branch of the Nigerian Bar Association, Barrister Idris Ojibara, and Alhaji Aliyu Alarape Salman.
