Two men, Mohammed Jamiu and Mohammed Abdulkareem, have been remanded in prison by a Magistrate's Court in Ilorin, Kwara State over cult-related activities.

The case was transferred from the C Division of the police to the Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department in Ilorin after the police got information on April 14 that two people who escaped during a clash between cultists had been found. On the same date, Mohammed Jamiu and Mohammed Abdulkareem were arrested.

"Investigations conducted at the Department revealed that the men are members of the Aye secret cult confraternity. It was also revealed that Mohammed Jamiu and Mohammed Abdulkareem were involved in the recent clashes between Eye and Aye secret cults and three axes and a cutlass were recovered from Mohammed Jamiu' residence", the police said.

Police prosecutor, Inspector Jude Keme, urged the court to adjourn as investigation was still in progress. Magistrate B. A. Imam ordered the remand of the accused persons at the Federal Prison in Oke-Kura, Ilorin, and adjourned the case till May 22.
