Kwara MPPP adopts Jonathan

Kwara State Mega Progressive Peoples Party, MPPP, yesterday in Ilorin announced President Goodluck Jonathan as its adopted candidate for the March 28 presidential election.

The party, which held what they called a consultative meeting at Davos Lodge, Onikanga Road GRA Ilorin, said it was joining its counterparts across the country to adopt the President.

MPPP state chairman, who doubles as its gubernatorial candidate in Kwara State, Mr. Babatunde Tayo Omolosho, who read the communiqué after the meeting said MPPP was a medium party which stands in the midst of other big, small and micro parties to consciously play a role in the stabilisation of the current nascent democracy.

The communiqué reads in part: “The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has played a prominent role in the process of democracy within this period. It had also provided a meaningful leadership that had ushered in the growth and development that had promoted Nigeria in the comity of nations.”

He also added that “President Jonathan has, in the midst of various daunting challenges, made outstanding contributions to the growth and development of Nigeria and the stabilisation of her democratic process. “Therefore, MPPP believes that Nigeria stands to gain by the continuity of the Jonathan presidency.

“MPPP hereby adopts President Jonathan as its own presidential candidate for the 2015 general elections and all members are hereby to assiduously work for his re-election.”

Those who signed the communiqué, apart from the gubernatorial candidate, included Sayomi Adekunle, Hammed Shuaib and Medinat Mubarak, deputy governorship candidate, state secretary and Women Leader respectively.
