Jonathan's campaign not issues-based - Saraki

Date: 2015-01-12

Former governor of Kwara State, Dr. Bukola Saraki, yesterday said President Goodluck Jonathan's re-election campaign has not been issues-based "because his campaigners lack ideas on how to move the country forward."

Saraki stated this while inaugurating the campaign committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state led by Speaker of the House of Assembly, Razaq Atunwa.

"We have gone to the battle and we have conquered. We did it in 2003, 2007 and in 2011. Insha Allah, we will repeat it in 2015", he said.

He added that the APC is not only going to secure a landslide victory, but will send a strong message to the PDP that power belongs to the people.

"PDP campaigners are bereft of ideas on how to move the nation forward. That is the reason why their campaign has not been issues-based. What have PDP campaigners been able to point to as the achievements of Jonathan? I want our result in 2015 to be better than that of 2011. I urge you to come out en masse and vote for APC; vote for Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed, General Buhari, all APC national and state assembly candidates. We don't want 60:40, we don't want 70:30. We don't want 30:20, we want a minimum of 90 per cent and above", he said.

He added: "This is your goal; your goal is not just to win but to send a strong message that Kwara belongs to Kwara; it does not belong to South South, God is here. They should leave Kwara alone, they should not interfere in Kwara."

Also speaking, the state governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, said the PDP would fail at next month's elections.
