Press Release: My campaign is very much active and intact - Shagaya

Date: 2015-01-02

The attention of Sherif Shagaya Campaign Organization (SSHCO) has been drawn to a ludicrous news item reported by an online platform - E-Kwara. The story, captioned: Kwara 2015: Stage set for Razaq Atunwa as Sheriff Shagaya 'abandons' House of Rep campaign, is not only laughable but clearly portrays the reporter as an excellent opinion writer. For one, the news item failed the basic test of a good news report - all the sources quoted are anonymous while the rest of the supposed news are allegations by nameless individuals.

Alhaji Sherif Shagaya recently held a prayer session in his campaign office located just opposite the Metropolitan Square (Asa Dam road) to thank Allah for seeing him through the Primaries and to also ask for His guidance as we go into the main election. Immediately after the prayer, which was attended by friends and supporters, Alhaji Sherif released fund for the campaigns. As we speak, Alhaji Sherif has just concluded the 'reconciliation meetings' he kick-started immediately after the PDP Primaries to reconcile himself with all who contested against him.

Every day, Alhaji Sherif and his campaign team are busy working and strategizing on how to win the forthcoming House of Representatives election, and the fact that we have not been paying pseudo news platforms to report our activities does not mean we are not working. We believe in the philosophy of making less noise while doing the vital work that often determines victory in this type of electoral contest.

Alhaji Sherif believes that nothing on earth is too much to give in the quest for freedom for his people, and he is committed to prosecuting the forthcoming election with vigour and absolute commitment. Alhaji Sherif hasn't given up on his ambition, and he is not prepared to do so no matter the situation. By giving him the ticket and the platform to contest, Alhaji Sherif believes that he is bearing the hope and aspirations of a political party and its members, and he has made it clear on several occasions that he would not betray the confidence reposed in him by the teaming members of the Kwara State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

While the person behind the fake news is well known to us, we shall reveal his identity in due course. In the meantime, we call on all our supporters to disregard these sorts of fake and unverified information aimed at discouraging them and pouring cold water on their burning desire for freedom and emancipation.
