Cleric admonish parents to value Arabic Language.

Chairman, Kwara State Board of Arabic Education, Sheikh AbdulKadir Oba-Solagberu, has urged Muslim parents across the country to give their wards and children both western and Islamic education to be useful to the society and the nation at large.

Sheikh Oba-Solagberu who is also the National President of the Sheu Alimi Islamic Foundation, SAIF, stated this on Sunday while speaking with journalists in Ilorin.

The cleric also noted that parents should play their role in monitoring the educational exploits of their children at all times to be good ambassadors of the family and the nation in general.

He said: "Arabic is one of the languages recognized globally. There is every need to commend the state government for the foresight of the establishment of the Board.

"As included in our term of reference, the board is to ensure the repositioning of Arabic education to further ensure compliance with the state education reform policy. We are also saddled with the responsibility of setting standards and defining the curriculum for Arabic education in the state with particular cognizance to variation in style and method of teaching available in both written and unwritten existing curricula.

"Providing the guidelines for establishing new private Arabic schools. Standardizing and perfecting existing Arabic schools to ensure greater efficiency as well as performing such other functions as in the opinion of the board may be serve to promote the objectives of the board among other roles."

He however commended Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed, the Senator representing Kwara Central at National Assembly, Dr. Bukola Saraki as well as the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari for making the establishment of the board a reality.

Sheikh Oba-Solagberu therefore implored Kwarans in respect of their religion, tribe and culture to embrace peace and unity and support the present administration to move the state forward.
