Kwara poly staff charged on good conduct
Staff of the Kwara State Polytechnic has been charged to always display positive attitude in the discharge of their duties in other to achieve the aims and objectives of the founding fathers of the institution.
This came from the Rector of the polytechnic, Alhaji Mas'ud Elelu, while speaking to members of staff of the institution during the Polytechnic Assembly held in the institution.
Elelu noted that staff must be honest to the polytechnic and always avoid any act of fraud, misappropriation and theft, among others, saying the council and management of the polytechnic will deal with anyone found guilty of the offences.
Commenting on salary increment, the rector lauded the efforts of the governing council of the polytechnic for reviewing the staff salary, urging the staff to work towards ensuring its sustainability by making sure that all hands are on deck.to improve the institution's Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).
Elelu disclosed that the council and management of the institution are working round the clock to ensure that the staff welfare is adequately taken care of in terms of offices as well as sponsoring them for seminars and conferences for optimal performance.
He also stated that plans are on to get the staff and students of the polytechnic out of the transportation problem being experienced.
The rector encouraged the academic staff of the polytechnic to always go for research, disclosing that the money approved for by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) to that effect since last year is yet to be utilized.
He noted that such research will widen the horizon of the participants, as well as boost the image of the Institutions.
The rector, who also disclosed that the institution has been given approval by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) to run National Diploma (ND) in Marketing, stated that it is planning to introduce new courses to meet the immediate need of the community.
Elelu, who commended the staff for their role in the last accreditation exercise, promised that the management will not relent on its efforts to improve on the wellbeing of both staff and students.
Speaking earlier, the Registrar of the polytechnic, Pastor M.O. Salami, lauded the leadership of the institution and all efforts geared towards achieving the aims and objectives of the founding fathers.
Salami described the Polytechnic Assembly as a forum where staff and management interact to know the expectations of the management from the staff and to plan on the way forward.
