Kwara United won't play Kaduna behind closed doors

Date: 2012-05-13

Kwara won't play Kaduna behind Kwara United have kicked against playing a Week 26 tie at Kaduna United behind closed doors as this was not ordered by the NPL.

Kwara allege that hosts Kaduna plan to play the game behind closed doors so as to intimidate the match officials and ensure they win the game at all costs.

"We have been reliably informed that Kaduna United want this match to be played behind closed doors which we won't subscribe to. Only the NPL can give such directive and since they have not done so, we believe Kaduna United have motive behind this," said Kwara spokesman Olusola Ajide.

"We believe they want to manipulate the referee since no one is watching, but we would rather want the Kaduna people to be allowed into the stadium to cheer them. If we lose that way, no problem."

Kwara won the reverse fixture 3-1 in February.

The Ilorin club are 12th on the table with 31 points from 23 matches, while Kaduna United are two places below on 30 points.doors
