OPINION: Fellow Kwarans; Now is the Time! By Titilope Tawakkalt Anifowoshe

In every society, development is characterised by the economy, commerce, agriculture, education etc of such area. The government of such society plays a major role in the modification, adjustment or fast tracking of these developmental tools.

Many a times, people who are politically inclined challenge me for the perceived "abnormality" in our political system, this they attribute to the our submissive nature. Whether it is true or not, the condition of our state is lucid enough for anyone to know.

To every conscious youth, father, mother, industrialist, economist, medical practitioner, educationist etc whose origin is of our beloved State of Harmony  craving for a positive change and improvement in the state of affairs of Kwara, now is the time to turn the political button on.

Whenever I read different political brickbats written by both known and unknown persons in Kwara, I usually wonder why the shouts has not manifested in our state of affairs. In recent times, struggle has gone beyond shouts, cries, placards, vandalism etc one has to be constructive and practical in pursuing one's goals.

The Kwara State Resident Electoral Commissioner has announced that the issuance of Permanent Voters registration card will be done between 15th to 17th of August and registration exercise for fresh electorates will commence on the 20th of August and last till 25th of the same month.

The implication of this news is that, the we Kwarans can only exercise our sovereignty, power, strength, right and patriotism by fully engaging in this exercise. Amplify the information; let every eligible voter know that he needs to register and get his or her voters card if he or she doesn't have one. Encourage Kwarans outside the state to travel down to engage in the registration. The cost of transportation, the sweat, and the stress is not too big to sacrifice for the  improvement of the  State of affairs of our beloved Kwara.

It should be noted, that the outcome of the Osun state gubernatorial election might have been different if the people of Osun were not actively involved in the electoral process.

Fellow Kwarans, It is high time we switched on  the button of effective and efficient representation in our beloved Kwara State. Let's make that optimal progress and development we have all been craving for. Affiliations, bias and sentiment should be disregarded. Objectivity and progress should be our watchword as we all mobilise our people to engage in the registration exercise.
