2015: Traders, teachers, others root for Gov Ahmed

Stakeholders in Kwara South Senatorial District have urged the leadership of All Peoples Congress, APC, to present Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed for second term in 2015 gubernatorial election.

The stakeholders including the artisans, traders, students, teachers, members of Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees, NULGE, farmers, Christian and Muslim leaders transporters, Community Development Associations, CDAs, among others, spoke at a meeting with the forum of Kwara South Political Appointees, at Town Hall meetings on sensitization programme for the registration cards ahead of 2015 general elections.

Participants cut across the seven local governments in the senatorial district namely Isin,Oke-Ero,Ekiti,Irepodun,Ifelodun,Offa and Oyun local governments.

The Chairman of Kwara South Political Appointees Forum and Commissioner for Finance, Demola Banu, while addressing the stakeholders in Omuaran, headquarters of Irepodun local government and others, explained the need for them to ensure they got permanent voters registration card before the expiration of the deadline.

Banu who recalled the achievements of the present administration, explained the need for them to vote for the APC led government in the state under the governorship of Abdulfatah Ahmed, to continue to enjoy the dividends of democracy .

The commissioner, while in Esie also told the stakeholders how the present administration despite the shortfall of N1billion in monthly allocations from the federation account since August last year, had continued to meet the yearnings and aspirations of the people undisturbed.

He said "We pay N10million on gratuity monthly, N100million monthly for pensioners, and spend about N600million on monthly basis to pay salaries.We are doing all these without sacking any of our workers. Even on monthly basis, we recruit workers through our QuickWin programme while we also sustain and improve our infrastructures."

Banu noted that the International Vocational Centre sited in Ajase-Ipo, when completed, would open job opportunities for people of the area and indeed the state, urging them to continue to support the administration of Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed.
