Armed Robbery - Court Remands Two Students
An Ilorin Magistrate's court has ordered that two students of the Kwara State College of Education, Ilorin, Joshua Ayantola and Adebagbo Adeyinka be remanded in prison's custody for alleged criminal conspiracy and armed robbery.
The suspects were arraigned before the court on two- count charge of criminal conspiracy and armed robbery contrary to sections 97 of the penal code law and 6b and 1(2) of Robbery and Firearms (Special Provision) Act cap r11 law of the federation of Nigeria 2004.
The police First Information Report (FIR) said the accused dispossessed one Musa Azeez and seven others of their various amount of money and other valuables.
The accused allegedly carted away one blackberry curve 4 valued at N18, 000 one Techno S3 valued at N13, 000, one Blackberry Bold 2 valued at N13, 000, one Techno T728 valued at N17, 000 and the total cash of N47, 500.
"One Techno T728 phone, earpiece property of one Bello Abeeb with the cash sum of N500 was recovered from Joshua Ayantola while one Blackberry Bold 2 phone property of one AbdulLateef Asimiyu with the cash sum of N500 and some suspected criminal charms were recovered from Adebayo Adeyinka.
"Investigation conducted at SARS office, Ilorin has indeed revealed that both of you committed the above offences."
The Police prosecutor, Inspector James Odaudu, told the court that investigation on the matter had not been concluded and urged the court to remand the suspects.
The Chief Magistrate, Nurudenn Adeyanju, however, ordered that the accused be remanded at Oke-Kura prison in view of the "serious nature of the offences" and adjourned the case till July 16 for mention.
