Middle-aged man dies in Ilorin Police Station after row with wife
Tragedy struck last weekend as a middle-aged commercial driver, Tunde Onibeji, reportedly slumped at Adewole Police Station and later died at Ilorin General Hospital.
The deceased an indigene of Ilorin, Kwara State capital, who was in his early 40s, according to a source close to him, was reportedly invited to the police station following a direct complaint by his embattled wife.
Late Onibeji's wife simply identified as Iya Adisa, the source hinted parked out of his home at Ita-Merin, Ilorin, about two weeks over disagreement on marital issues.
A source close to the deceased, he went to the Mandate International Market, Ilorin where his estranged wife was said to have been sighted and allegedly molested her.
This development, another source said, irked some Hausa traders, who allegedly beaten him, while his wife reported him at the Adewole Police Station, Ilorin.
It was gathered that the deceased was later summoned by the police for interrogation but slumped at the station before altering a word.
The deceased, this medium gathered was rushed to the Ilorin General hospital, where he was later confirmed dead.
It was also reliably gathered that the four-year-old marriage between the decease and his estranged wife was childless, while the woman was held for interrogation at the police station.
When contacted yesterday, the Public Relations Officer, Kwara State Police Command, ASP Ajayi Okansanmi, confirmed the incident, adding that the deceased's wife had been release on bail.
