Varsity don kicks over Islamic colouration of Boko Haram
A University lecturer and Professor in the Department of Religions, University of Ilorin, Badmas Lanre Yusuf, has warned Nigerian media to stop tagging Boko-Haram with Islam.
Professor Badmas, who is also a former commissioner in the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, NAHCON, said the insurgents have automatically ex-communicated themselves from Islam with the doctrine under which they are operating.
The Don, stated this last week while delivering a juma'at sermon at the opening of a Central Mosque built by Sheik Qudus Koro at Modinat-Fomo, Abayawo, Ilorin, just as he pointed out that Islam does not give room for compulsion.

Shortly before the two rakat prayers, the Chief Imam of Ilorin, Sheik Bashir Soliu, in his sermon urged Muslims across the country to renew their faith in Almighty Allah by being faithful in their undertakings at all times.
The cleric, howev er called on well-to-do Muslims to channel their wealth to the propagation of Islamic doctrines in order to change the perception held by some people against the religion.
Imam Soliu also expressed concern over multi-faceted problems in the country. Meanwhile, the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, who also made brief remark after the Jumat prayer, prayed Almighty Allah to continue to uplift Islam and Muslim adherents.
