Jonathan Receives North Central PDP, Promises To Stem Insecurity.
The Federal Government says it is coming up with the type of architecture that will deal with insurgency in any part of the country.
President Goodluck Jonathan was speaking while reacting to requests by the delegates of the People’s Democratic Party from the North-Central, who came to pay him a solidarity visit in the Presidential Villa.
The delegation from Nasarawa, Benue, Kogi, Niger, Plateau, Kwara and the Federal Capital Territory were led by the former Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party, Dr Ahmadu Ali and the governors of the states.
Giving commendation and professing unflinching support for the President, the group described their zone as very important in the country’s polity – a zone that cannot be ignored by any serious minded politician.
They called the President’s attention to some problems bedevilling the zone, from infrastructure development to insecurity in the land, requesting the President to ensure the arrest of the perpetrators of the destruction that have left many Nigerians dead.
President Jonathan, while responding to all their requests, said that the office of the National Security Adviser was making concerted efforts to strengthen the conventional police to stem the challenges of insecurity in the land.
The North Central zone was said to have given the PDP an unflinching support that is second only to the South-East in the 2011 presidential elections.
Also part of the delegation was the National Chairman of the PDP, Ahmadu Muazu; Senate President, David Mark; Benue State Governor, Gabriel Suswam.
