Bio's Claims On Offa Local Govt Poll Ridiculous - Rep Mustapha

Date: 2013-11-13

The claims by former minister of transport Ibrahim Bio that the PDP rigged elections in Offa local government of Kwara State is ridiculous, a member of the House of Representatives from the state Rep Moshood Mustapha has said.

Bio had in an interview last week said the APC won 11,000 votes, while the PDP got just 4,000 votes in the election but that the New PDP under the leadership of Bukola Saraki in the state changed the results to 25,000 votes for the PDP and 20,000 votes for the APC.

But reacting yesterday, Rep Mustapha (PDP, Kwara) said Bio's claims show that he is not a true member of the PDP, calling on President Jonathan to be wary of such people.

"I was shocked that it was Bio who said such a thing.. It means he is actually working for the APC and not the PDP which he claims to be part of. Mr President should be aware of such people," he said.

Mustapha also said that Bio's claims that the PDP should not reconcile with the G7 governors is self-serving, adding that he lacks the authority to advise the party on such a matter.

He said it was unfortunate that after all that Bukola Saraki did for Bio, he could turn his back against the man.

"He is the luckiest person in Kwara politics. Saraki made him commissioner, member of the House of Reps and Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly. There is nothing he can do to condemn Saraki, because he cannot even win an election in his ward," he added.

According to him, Bio was not in a anyway loyal to late Olusola Saraki as claimed, saying all he wanted was to become governor of Kwara State, which was why he accused Bukola of being self-serving.
