Press Release: Elections, Peaceful and Orderly - Ajidagba

The chairman Kwara state Independent Electoral Commission (KWASIEC) Dr. Uthman Abdulrahman Ajidagba has described the Local Government Election in 15 Local Government areas of the state as peaceful and orderly.

Ajidagba made this assertion at Afon, headquarters of the Asa Local Government area after monitoring voting in five Local Government areas of the state.

He said he was impressed by large turnout of Voters in all Polling Centers visited in all the five Council areas.

The Chairman who also expressed satisfaction with the orderly manner the eligible Voters conducted themselves in all wards visited by the Commission said the Election recorded a huge success in term of provision of materials used for the Election

He said shortage of Electoral materials were not recorded in all 181 wards where election took place.

The five Local Government areas visited by the Chairman were Ilorin West, Ilorin East, Ilorin, Ilorin South, Asa and Ifelodun.

The reports that most polling stations recorded a large turnout of Voters waiting to cast their votes.

Unlike in the Morning there were presence of Security men in mufti and uniforms in all the polling stations visited.

Some of the Electoral Officers described the Election as orderly, peaceful and turnout impressive.

They said there was no cases of inadequate supply of materials or apathy.

Also Some Observers from the state and outside the state also monitored the conduct of the Election in several parts of the state
