LG Polls: Kwara PDP flags-off campaign
Speaking during the flag-off ceremony of the party held at the premises of Baboko community Secondary School, Ilorin, the leader of PDP in the state and senator representing Kwara Central Senatorial district at the national assembly, Senator Abubakar Bukola Saraki, called on party supporters to vote en-masse for the party saying that the result of the election would be used for political appointments.
The immediate former-governor of the state who expressed delight over the large turnout of party members at the ceremony also gave thanks to God for giving him the ample opportunity to know the authentic leaders in their various local governments and wards.
According to him, I have told the governor not to look at faces but result of this coming election to select those that will occupy political offices, saying that no result no appointment.
“This is high time to know the authentic leaders, leaders that have political value and popular appeal in their respective areas.
The result of this election would be used as a yardstick for next appointment in the state”, He said.
He therefore advised the PDP Chairmanship candidates to practice politics of inclusion by allowing their people enjoy the dividends of democracy warning that they should not cultivate the habit of switching off their phones rather make themselves available.
Senator Saraki thanked God for the prevailing peace and harmony in Kwara PDP saying that Kwara is the only state among the 36 states of federation where there is high level of cordial relationship between the incident governor and his predecessors.
In his address, the Kwara State Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed described Senator Bukola Saraki as a true and tested leader who has been piloting the affairs of the party in the state logically.
Governor Ahmed disclosed that his administration would not leave any stone unturned to redeem all its election campaign promises especially in the areas of youth empowerment and human capital development.
He urged the youths who have not registered their names with KWABES to do so adding that the KWABES data will be used by government for job consideration for the youths in the state.
Governor Ahmed described Kwara PDP as one big family that cannot be separated and attributed the success stories in the state to the good vision and leadership quality of Senator Bukola Saraki.
Earlier in his address, the state PDP Chairman, Hon. Ishola Balogun Fulani urged PDP members to vote en-masse for PDP candidates in the next local government elections.
In their separate addresses, the chairman of Kwara North, South and Central district, Alhaji Isiaka Oniwa, Alhaji S.O Yusuf and Alhaji Jimoh Adesina respectively appealed to all PDP supporters in the state to produce 100 percent success in the next local government elections in the state.
