Kwara Govt Seeks Greater Partnerships For Improved Healthcare
The Kwara State Government has called for more partnership with corporate bodies and individual philanthropists to improve access to healthcare.
The State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq, made the call on Sunday at the official launch of Ayishat Oloyede Comprehensive Healthcare Centre, built by the state Commissioner for Water Resources, Alhaji Femi Agbaje Whyte in Atari, Offa.
Represented by the Deputy Governor, Mr Kayode Alabi, the Governor congratulated Alhaji Whyte for contributing to community development. “This edifice is a priceless addition to our efforts to deepen public access to good health and well-being, which is Goal 3 of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. On behalf of the government and, of course, the people of Offa, I thank the Honourable Commissioner for this humanitarian gesture. ”
The Governor, therefore, urged the Offa community to put the facility to good use.
He further stated that his administration has focused on and prioritised the delivery of SDGs in Kwara State. These, he said, includes access to quality basic education, healthcare delivery and general well-being, gender parity, potable water, safety nets for the vulnerable, among others.
“Our earliest step was to key into the Basic Health Care Provision Fund, Accelerating Nutrition Results in Nigeria and the global fund grants for malaria. All of these, including our routine free medical outreach for the poor, the aged and more, have paid off. ” said the Governor.
In his remarks, Olofa of Offa, Oba Muftau Gbadamosi Esuwoye commended and described as unprecedented the effort of Agbaje for using his personal funds to build a hospital for the community.
