Kwara Group to Saraki: You Defected to APC for Selfish interest

Date: 2014-09-14

Following the recent outburst of immediate past governor of Kwara State, Dr Bukola Saraki that his defection to the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) was peoples’ wish, particularly, the people of kwara State, a leading socio-political group in the State, Kwara Restoration Agenda (KARA) has debunked the claims of the former governor of the state, saying that Dr Saraki defected to opposition political party because of personal and selfish interest.

However, the group declared that the wind of change of guard of governance in the State from Dr Bukola Saraki and his co-travelers have come and time has also ripped for freedom of Kwarans from shackle of political naive, ignorance, poverty, brigandage and backwardness, stressing that since last forty months of Bukola Saraki’s self imposed Abdulfatai Ahmed administration, there was nothing tangible to show case as dividend of democracy to the people of Kwara.

Reacting to the recent Statement credited to the wife of former governor, Barrister Toyin Saraki during her 50th birthday anniversary that defection of her husband was the wish of the kwarans and in the interest of kwara people, through a statement issued and signed by the KARA’s Director of Media and Publicity, Comrade Kehinde Ayanwale, a copy of which was made available to newsmen in Ilorin, the State capital yesterday ,congratulated the former first lady of the State on her 50th birthday  but urged the former first family in the State to stop misleading the unsuspected  public  that they  defected to APC for  the Kwarans’  interest.

Comrade Ayanwale insisted that Saraki and allies’ defection to APC was as a result of personal gain, asking rhetorically that how many kwarans they consulted before their defection to their new party (APC), insisted that Bukola Saraki family should stop feeding the public with concocted lies on their unlawful defection to opposition party.

KARA said,” We may have not responded to the statement credited to a wife of former governor of our State but, because the Statement was made during a birthday party when bottles of drink might have exchanged hands and mouth and as a third force in Kwara State project, we need to put the record straight because of the unsuspected public who may think the truth had been told about the subject matters. We have every authority to say that Dr Bukola Saraki left PDP to APC because of personal aggrandizements, not because of   peoples’ wish as being claimed in the section of the media.

“We wish to inform the people of Kwara State that our socio-political organization, Kwara Restoration Agenda (KARA) has resolved to team up with other like minds to liberate the people of Kwara State from present retrogressive government of Abdulfatai Ahmed imposed by Bukola Saraki on kwarans”

”Dr Bukola Saraki as former Chairman, Nigeria Governors  Forum (NGF) thought that President Goodluck   Ebele Jonathan will shield him from being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) over an alleged misappropriation of Kwara fund while holding forth as Governor of kwara State for eight years  but President Jonathan refused compromise  his   administration ‘s Zero tolerance stance on corruption and other related matters  and Jonathan as a man of honour and  integrity, allows the truth and cause of justice, fairness and accountability  to prevail in the prosecution of Bukola Saraki. This is only offence of Mr. President against  former  Kwara  State governor”,KARA added.
