Oloyede Clarifies Stance Over Visit To Jonathan
The secretary-general of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Prof Ishaq Oloyede, yesterday clarified comments credited to him during the visit of the council led by the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, to President Goodluck Jonathan on Wednesday.
Oloyede said he was misquoted as saying the president said, “Nothing could be farther from the truth than the purported lopsided composition of the delegation to the ongoing National Conference.”
He said that at no time did the president make such comment and at no time did he report same during his interviews with journalists.
“The president said it was inadvertent, that is, the marginalisation was not deliberate. The president had requested that we appeal to Muslims that the lopsidedness was not deliberate; that’s exactly what he said,” Oloyede stated.
