Kwara APC Wants Electoral Body To Shift LG Election Date
Mr Kayode Olawepo, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has called on the Kwara State Independent Electoral Commission to shift the date for the local government election in the state.
Olawepo, who made the call on Friday while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ilorin, said the call became necessary to enable the new party to take part in the poll.
He said no member of the new party had collected the party’s card, adding that nobody could contest election without party membership card.
"We are going to contest the coming local government election under the banner of the APC.
"KWSIEC has no choice than to shift the election date and adjust its timetable to accommodate us in its programmes.
"It is obvious that there is no alternative than to accommodate the APC, they cannot disenfranchise the whole opposition and they cannot say there is no opposition in the state," Olawepo said.
He maintained that APC as an opposition party did not subscribe to the Oct. 26 date for the local government election in the state.
