The Ilorin Emirate Descendants' Progressive Union (IEDPU) has decried the infiltration into Ilorin by hoodlums.

The group regretted that hoodlums, "are springing up in the metropolis and Kwara state in general and therefore called on security agencies to be at alert to ensure that activities of these miscreants are checked as the state holds its local government election.

Speaking on behalf of IEDPU and other organizers of an annual traditional end of Ramadan celebration held at the palace of the Emir of Ilorin, Wednesday night, Alhaji Usman Moyosore said "as we are approaching the local government elections in the state, our security agencies should be at alert to avoid miscreants a field day.

"This call becomes necessary as the rate at which the hoodlums appearing in Ilorin metropolis and Kwara state is on the increase".

The IEDPU also condemned the sale of sachet water at N10 as against N5 in neighbouring towns and states, calling on the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, to intervene.

Moyosore also expressed the union's concern over the blockage of major roads in town during ceremonies despite repeated complaints, noting, "we should not do anything that would hurt our neighbour".

He commended government's efforts on road construction adding however that all wads in Ilorin metropolis are due for rehabilitation and appealed to the federal government to reconstruct the collapsed Ohan and Moro bridges in Asa and Moro local government areas of the state.
