Human capital, key to productivity - CIPMN
The Chairman, Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria, Kwara State chapter, Mrs. Musleema Olaniyan, and Secretary, Kwara State Fiscal Responsibility Commission, Mr. Abdulganiyu Opeloyeru, have identified human capital as catalyst for national growth and improved organisational productivity.
They spoke on Tuesday in Ilorin during the state's CIPMN summit entitled, 'Public-private partnership and human capital development.'
Olaniyan called on managements of organisations to invest more in human capital and capacity building to make the organisations more competitive and sustainable.
Opeloyeru said the level of development of any nation or organisation was positively related to the quality of its human capital development.
He added that given the increasing pressure on public finances, the need for the involvement of private sector in the development of human capital cannot be over-emphasized.
"Involvement of the private sector in the development of the human resources through PPP arrangements must be on sound footing derived from a comprehensive memorandum of understanding that can stand the
test of time," he said.
According to him, as a motivational tool, PPP arrangement assists in enhancing human capital development by creating enabling environment for labour force through manipulations of workplace environment positively.
He added that positive workplace environment manifests in a number of ways, among which is promotion of quality management by the use of bottom-up approach in decision making.
