The Nigerian Urban Reproductive Health Initiative (NURHI) has distributed Intra-Uterine Device kits (IUD) worth millions of naira to all its health institutions in Kwara State.

Distributing the kits, the Kwara state team leader of NURHI, Mallam Aliu Abubakar Sodiq, explained that the distribution of the kits was aimed at complementing government efforts by upgrading the equipment in the NURHI facilities.

Sodiq noted that the kits were mainly to fill up the equipment gaps in all NURHI facilities.

Sodiq, however, called on the beneficiaries not to store the kits, adding that it's meant for the benefit for the people in the state.

Speaking at the distribution of the kits at the state Ministry of Health headquarters , the state Commissioner for Health, Alhaji Kayode Abdul Issa explained that the kits would go a long way to improve family planning in the state.

Issa, who spoke through the deputy director of maternal and child health coordinator for the state, Mrs. Janet Atoyebi, noted that NURHI has done a lot in the improvement of family planning project in the state.

In her remark the System Strengthening Quantity Improvement Officer for NURHI, Emiola Adeyinka, explained that the organization was aimed to support the efforts of the state government on the improvement of family planning.

The beneficiaries are, Civil Service Clinic, Children Speialist Hospital, University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, Olanrewaju Hospitals, Cottage Hospital Adewole, Ero-Omo Cottage Hospital, Kosemani Hospital among others.
