Family rejects planned autopsy on Oliha
Family of late Super Eagles star, Thompson Oliha, who died last month in Ilorin, Kwara State has rejected plan to conduct autopsy on his corpse, Daily Trust investigations have shown.
Oliha died after he allegedly slumped in his toilet and was rushed to Yusjib Industrial Medicare, Offa Garage Ilorin where the Chief Medical Director, Dr. Yusuf Abdulraheem confirmed him dead.
Until his death, Oliha worked with Kwara State Football Academy as one of the pioneer coaches.
However, it was gathered that plan to conduct autopsy on his corpse was rebuffed by the family.
One of his associates, Coach Paul Odey in a chat with Daily Trust yesterday confirmed the family's objection to the autopsy plan, stressing, "So, we don't want to get into any confrontation. We have left that plan".
He added, "Under normal circumstances, everybody has been asking what the cause of his death is? The only place such a question can be answered is through autopsy. It is normal scientifically that when a figure like that, a public figure, there must be an autopsy to ascertain the reason for his death".
Meanwhile, Oliha's corpse which is currently in University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH) mortuary would leave the state on July 19 while he is expected to be interred on July 29 according to Odey.
