The Kwara Government said it would assist the Dangote Group of Companies to acquire a 50-hectare sugar cane plantation and rice mill in Patigi, in the Edu Local Government Area.

This is contained in a statement issued by the Director-General, Kwara State Bureau of Lands, Alhaji Yusuf Abdulwahab, on Friday in Ilorin.

It stated that the director-general said this after a meeting with representatives of the company, Alhaji Issa Tata.

The statement said that the Abdulwahab urged investors to invest in the state.

''In an effort to promote investment opportunities in the state, the state government has called on the general public, companies and individuals, to come and invest in Kwara,'' he said.

The statement noted that the Abdulwahab had promised to cooperate with the company to acquire the land, adding that the property would be monitored by the state's Surveyor-General.

It called on the company to encourage its counterparts to invest in the state, adding that Kwara was blessed with numerous natural resources.

The statement also quoted Tata as applauding the state government for the privilege given to the company and promised to make life better and meaningful for the people in the area. (NAN)
