Kwara assembly tasks govt on robbery attacks
Kwara State House of Assembly yesterday called on the state government to be proactive in dealing with the security challenges in the state.
The lawmakers made their position known while debating on a motion of urgent public importance moved by its Majority Leader Abdulkareem Abdulganiyu who noted that robbery attacks have become rampant in some parts of the state in recent times.
He said roads leading to Ajase- Ipo from Ilorin and Idofian have become notorious for robbery attacks.
"Almost every day the robbers attack motorists passing through the road and people of the area as well. There was an attack on Sunday around 6 am when travelers were attacked and the criminals carted away their belongings and none of them was arrested", he said.
Abdulganiyu also said other areas like Ganma, Afon, Aboto and Omu-aran were also not left out.
Other members of the house who spoke extensively on the issue called on the security agencies to step up their activities and provide adequate security for the people.
