In its drive to boost economic development by encouraging Small and Medium Scale Enterprises in order to eradicate poverty and joblessness, the Kwara State government has unveiled an entrepreneurship initiative tagged, "Kwara State Entrepreneurship Model."

Addressing a press conference to unveil the new model, the state Commissioner for Commerce and Co-operatives, Alhaji Raji Mohammed, said the state government has assisted in the formation of co-operative society with financial support for the benefit of the people.

He said, "Last year, the Kwara State government through no fewer than 10 Micro-Finance banks which cut across the state doled out N250million to Kwara residents comprising Kwarans, non-Kwarans as well as non-Nigerian. In fact, our pride is empowering the poor.

"It is our hope that the vocational centre at Ajasse-Ipo in the Ifelodun local government would complement the efforts of the state Civil Service Commission by absorbing quite a number of youths in the areas of skill acquisition after which graduands would be provided with working capitals to kick-start their respective professions."
